Rush A. Simmons

Rush focuses his practice in the areas of Medicaid Pre-Planning, Estate Planning and Estate and Trust Administration. Rush assists individuals and families who are planning for Medicaid, establishing their estate plans, or who are navigating the probate process after the death of a loved one.

Rush splits time between our Gastonia and Hickory offices and works closely with the staff in both locations.

Rush attended the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill and graduated in 2008 with a B.A. in Political Science. He then attended the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University and graduated cum laude in 2012. Rush was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 2012 and moved to Denver, NC, where he and his wife met years earlier, while in high school.

In addition to private practice experience, Rush spent time as an Assistant Clerk in the Estates and Special Proceedings department of the Lincoln County Clerk of Court’s office. There, Rush oversaw the department responsible for auditing estate administration paperwork and conducting hearings related to estate matters. He also conducted incompetency adjudication hearings, guardianship hearings, and foreclosure hearings.

Rush is a member of the Gaston County Bar, North Carolina State Bar, North Carolina Bar Association, and American Bar Association. Rush is also a member of National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He currently serves as a council member for the Tomorrow’s Leaders program for the Charlotte Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and is a member of the advisory board for the Next Generation Fund of the Community Foundation of Gaston County.

Rush is married to Brittany, a nurse at Atrium Health in Charlotte. Rush and Brittany live in Mount Holly with their French Bulldog, Opal, and enjoy hiking and visiting their families in their spare time.
